Album Description 2009 release from the Canadian R&B singer/songwriter. Melanie's music is an eclectic yet glossy mix of tributes to the past and contemporary R&B. Even before she released an album, she impressed Kanye West enough to be invited to be the opening act during Kanye's 2008 European tour! Universal.

Excellent debut cd!!!!!!!! Excellent!!!!!! December 9, 2009 ororo monroe (ST. CHARLES, MO. United States) 13 out of 14 found this review helpful
I love the hell out of this cd. Melanie has a voice out of this world and the songs were not the typical everyday songs that you hear on the radio.. It's nice to see real talent sing real songs.
This cd makes you nod your head and pat the steering wheel. Great cd!!!!!! The people who may not like are the ones who only get into "ass dropping on the dancefloor" music, or may think "Pop dat Coochie" was robbed of a Grammy. LOL.
Get real! This is real talent at its finest. "Learn it, love it, live it!"
Melonie Fiona vs ????? January 30, 2010 Ethan W. Manuel 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I just listened to Jazmine Sullivan's album and then I listened to Melonie's, and though I like Jazmine's music, in my opinion Melonie Fiona's, lbs for lbs, is the better of the two. The throw-back sounds are captivating and she seems to be better in touch with who she is as an artist. I love the hit " It Kills Me", and haven't loved a song that much in awhile. Kudos to the throw-back sound of Jazmine Sullivan's "I Broke The Windows Out Your Car", but Melonie has on her CD songs that could be hit after hit after hit if vigorously promoted. Good luck to all that have broken into the game. Peace!
Great energy, great album! November 19, 2009 I. Vatianos (Athens, Greece) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Wow! This CD has stuck in my player for so long! From the first to the last track everything is on it's right place.
More enjoyable than Amy Winehouse's "Back to Black" or any Alicia Keys' cd, this one is definetely a solid album, full of energy and pure feeling! Melanie's voice is strong and passionate!
It's an album of top quality, and I'm lucky that I haven't missed it. She has just made me longing for more!

I haven't purchased this 'yet', but listening to the samplings, I like it. When I heard the first cut, I recognized the accompanying track - it's the Zombie's 'Time Of The Season'! I thought it unique, someone taking this instrumental track and reworking it with new lyrics, which is not new, since we heard the same technique utilized with a Janet Jackson tune (Someone To Call My Lover), covering America's 'Ventura Highway'. Listening to the rest of the samples, I found accompanying tracks using the Supremes' 'My World Is Empty Without You' and some others which I could not name, but know they are 'used' accompaniment tracks. Nothing wrong with this. I'm happy to see 'recycled' music done in a tasteful manner. Kudos to the writers and producers, plus the perfect matching of Fiona's vocal talents. I'm attaching this album to my Amazon 'Wish List'.
